Founded by refugee youth in Uganda in 2015, our mission is to harness and nurture young refugees' personal, communal, and national aspirations. We also aim to empower youth and enhance their potential to promote peace and development through informed, innovative, and value-driven approaches.

HIGHLIGHTS

"We've worked with and trained 170 youth peace ambassadors across Uganda and South Sudan, and provided seed capital to 24 young refugees in Uganda (Kiryandongo settlement and Kampala) to accelerate their business development and growth strategies."

African Youth Action Network on Taking The Lead

Why is the Taking The Lead network important to you?

"Working together as a community of refugees is our strength. We learn from one another, consult each other, and share the responsibility of service. We are constantly reminded that we are part of a family, and what family truly means is love, acceptance, and trust."

With more funding and resources, our organisation could...

"address the root cause of conflicts that lead to refugee crises and ongoing displacement issues."

A shift from negative to positive narratives about refugees would lead to...

"the opening up of co-creative and collaborative spaces for all."

If refugees could influence decisions that affect them, it would mean...

"a culture of acceptance and integration for refugees."

OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE

"Achieving these goals would increase acceptance of refugees and renew hope and faith in humanitarian efforts, boosting our team's confidence and fostering a sense of possibility—be it in peace, development, or scientific innovation."
